8 Free WhatsApp Web Extensions Worth Installing (2026)

What the free plans of Kaption, Privacy Extension, WA Web Translate, WAPlus, WAExport, Pragmaz, WA Web Plus and Blueticks really include.

Kaption AIUpdated November 2, 2026

Most WhatsApp Web extensions say "free" on the store page. Fewer tell you what the free plan actually includes before you install. This post lists eight free WhatsApp Web extensions for Chrome and, for each, only what its own listing or pricing page says the free plan does. Where a vendor doesn't publish its free features, we say so.

Updated November 7, 2026. Competitors' prices and store figures checked on November 3, 2026; Kaption's plans are its 2027 plans.

Kaption is our product; we list where others are better.

The short answer

  • Free voice-note transcription: Kaption. Every account starts with 60 days of Business, unlimited; after that Free continues on your device with limits, plus privacy mode and screen lock.
  • Free translation: WA Web Translate. Completely free on its listing, with 200+ languages. Kaption translates free only in your first 60 days.
  • Free scheduling: WAPlus CRM. Its Free plan includes 3 schedulers and 3 reminders. Kaption Free has no scheduling after your first 60 days.
  • Free privacy blur, open source: Privacy Extension For WhatsApp Web. MIT-licensed and says it collects nothing, though its rating is low.
  • Free chat export: Pragmaz exports chats, groups and channels to HTML with media at no cost. WAExport has more formats, but a reviewer says only 30 extractions are free.

What does "free" mean for a WhatsApp Web extension?

It usually means one of three things: fully free (open source or ad-free tools), a free tier with caps, or a free install that unlocks little until you pay. All three appear on this list. Before installing, check three things on the listing and privacy policy: what the free plan includes, whether messages leave your device, and what happens when you hit a cap.

Which are the 8 best free WhatsApp Web extensions?

1. Kaption Free: 60 days of everything, then voice notes on your device

Kaption is a WhatsApp Web extension for Chrome and Edge, with a free desktop app for Mac and Windows. Every account starts with 60 days of Business, unlimited, with no card: transcripts, summaries, translation, scheduled messages and reminders, call recording and Claude and ChatGPT. After your 60 days, the Free plan keeps:

  • Voice-note transcription on your device, with limits
  • Privacy mode (blur names, photos and messages until you hover) and screen lock
  • One WhatsApp number

Limits of the free plan: after the first 60 days, no summaries, dictation, scheduled messages and reminders, call recording, Claude and ChatGPT or backups, and voice notes have limits. Scheduling starts on Pro with five a week.

Paid plans: Lifetime local AI US$99 once, for unlimited transcripts and translation on your computer; Pro US$11.99 a month (US$9.99 billed every 3 months, US$7.99 billed yearly); Business US$19.99 a month with 2 WhatsApp numbers. See pricing.

Chrome Web Store: about 50,000 users, 4.8 stars from 5.5K ratings. Kaption also has free web tools, including a voice note to text converter that needs no install.

2. Privacy Extension For WhatsApp Web: open-source blur

This extension blurs messages, previews, media and photos until you hover over them. It is MIT-licensed and its listing says: "This extension does not collect information about you or your messages." Everything is free.

Limits: blur only, no screen lock. Its rating is 2.7 from 1.2K ratings, and recent reviews say it stopped working (July 2026) and doesn't blur profile pictures. Kaption's privacy mode and screen lock are also free if you want both; our privacy extension guide compares the approaches.

Price: free.

Chrome Web Store: 1,000,000 users, 2.7 stars from 1.2K ratings.

3. WA Web Translate: free translation

WA Web Translate, by WADesk, translates WhatsApp Web chats in real time with Google, DeepL or AI engines, per-chat languages and auto-detect. Its listing says "200+ languages supported, completely free," and it also translates voice messages.

Limits: translation goes through Google, DeepL or AI engines, so text leaves your device. The extension is a funnel into the WADesk app, where scheduling, CRM and bulk sending live.

Price: the extension is free. The WADesk app has a free Basic tier (2 accounts), with Pro at $300 a year from 5 accounts, as of Nov 3, 2026.

Chrome Web Store: 9,000 users, 4.9 stars from 250 ratings. If translation is your main need, this beats Kaption Free, which translates only in your first 60 days.

4. WAPlus CRM Free: the most generous free CRM tier

WAPlus's lifetime Free plan includes 2 custom tabs, 3 schedulers, 3 reminders, 1 quick reply, AI translation up to 3,000 characters a month, broadcasts, auto-reply, and HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho and webhook integrations.

Limits: caps are tight (3 schedulers, 1 quick reply). No voice-note transcription. Team features sync conversations to WAPlus's servers.

Paid plans (as of Nov 3, 2026): Starter $12.99 per user; the page doesn't say whether that's monthly or annualized. More in our WAPlus CRM comparison.

Chrome Web Store: 70,000 users, 4.9 stars from 4.1K ratings.

5. WAExport: export chats and contacts

WAExport exports chats to HTML, Excel or CSV with a date range, and contacts and group members to Excel, CSV or VCF, with filters by WhatsApp label. Its listing says "Local, Secure, Private. Zero data collected."

Limits: the free allowance isn't published. A 1-star review from August 2026 says "Only 30 extractions are free," and media export needs the Max plan, whose price isn't published.

Price: free tier; Max price not published.

Chrome Web Store: 80,000 users, 4.9 stars from 7.3K ratings.

6. Pragmaz: free export and several accounts

Pragmaz's listing advertises several free tools with "no sign-up, no time-limited trial." The free tools include exporting a chat, group or channel to searchable HTML with media (password-protectable), several WhatsApp accounts in one tab, and posting a status and seeing who viewed it.

Limits: scheduling, Kanban, campaigns and transcription are paid. Prices are in Brazilian reais and aimed at sales teams.

Paid plans (as of Nov 3, 2026): Basic R$151.24 a month (R$120.99 on annual). See our Pragmaz comparison.

Chrome Web Store: 100,000 users, 4.2 stars from 3.6K ratings.

7. WA Web Plus: a free start to a big toolkit

WA Web Plus by Elbruz Technologies is the most installed WhatsApp Web add-on. Its site says "Get Started Free" and "Free & Premium Plans," but it doesn't publish the free feature list, so we can't tell you exactly what's free. Its paid plans add broadcasts, scheduled messages, auto-replies, templates and exports. The site says it never sends your WhatsApp data to a server.

Limits: free contents unpublished. Another extension uses the same name, so check the developer before installing.

Paid plans (as of Nov 3, 2026): Starter $14.99 a month. See switching from WA Web Plus.

Chrome Web Store: 2,000,000 users, 4.7 stars from 52.8K ratings.

8. Blueticks: free plan, details unpublished

Blueticks' pricing page says "Free plan, no time limit," but doesn't list what it includes. Its paid plans cover unlimited and recurring scheduled messages, campaigns, an AI agent and an MCP server.

Limits: free contents unpublished, and the lowest rating on this list. Recent reviews mention scheduled messages that don't send once the browser is closed, and support that is hard to reach.

Paid plans (as of Nov 3, 2026): Basic $9 per user a month ($7 billed yearly). For other options see our Blueticks alternatives for WhatsApp Web and switching from Blueticks.

Chrome Web Store: 60,000 users, 2.6 stars from 406 ratings.

Are free WhatsApp Web extensions safe?

They can be, but free doesn't mean private. Check where processing happens: Privacy Extension and WAExport say they collect nothing; WA Web Translate sends text to translation engines; Kaption Free transcribes on your device, and its paid cloud plans send only the audio you transcribe. Also avoid using any extension, free or paid, for bulk messages to people who didn't ask for them; that is what gets numbers banned. Kaption doesn't send bulk messages at all. Our post on warning signs in WhatsApp extensions covers what else to look for.

When isn't Kaption the right pick?

Kaption Free isn't the best free choice if:

  • You want free scheduling. Kaption Free has none after your first 60 days. WAPlus Free includes 3 schedulers.
  • You translate a lot. Kaption Free doesn't translate after your first 60 days; WA Web Translate is free without that cap.
  • You want unlimited free transcription. After your first 60 days, Kaption Free has limits on voice notes.
  • You want everything to stay on your device. Kaption Free transcribes on your device, but summaries and the cloud plans use Kaption Cloud. Privacy Extension and WAExport say they collect nothing.
  • You need a free CRM. Kaption isn't a CRM; WAPlus Free is the closest free option here.
  • You use Firefox or Safari. Kaption runs in Chrome and Edge, plus its desktop app.

Kaption Free is the right pick when voice notes are your bottleneck: 60 days of Business, unlimited, then on-device transcription with limits and privacy mode, for nothing.
