Yes. Installing the extension is free and you can start transcribing voice notes right away, with no credit card. The optional Basic and Pro plans add unlimited transcriptions, unlimited translation sessions, smart transcription and more scheduled messages.
The extension only runs on WhatsApp Web and works with the chats you already have open there. Your history stays in encrypted storage on your own device — no message content is kept on Kaption's servers. Audio you choose to transcribe is sent for processing and discarded as soon as the text comes back, and your conversations are never used to train AI models.
Kaption adds its features to web.whatsapp.com, so it works with whichever account is signed in to that tab. It is a browser extension rather than an integration with the official WhatsApp Business API, so it does not connect to Cloud API numbers.
