WhatsApp’s own translation lives in the phone apps. On a computer, the usual workaround is copying each message into a translator tab and pasting the reply back, and no real conversation survives that for long. Kaption translates inside the chat, in both directions.
Add the extension to Chrome or Edge, or download the Kaption desktop app for Mac or Windows. Then open WhatsApp Web.
Open the conversation and click the Live Translation button. It stays on for that chat until you turn it off.
Choose the language to translate into. Messages from the other person appear in it, with the original text still there to check.
Type as usual: Kaption detects your contact’s language and shows the translation as you type, so you can check it before you send.
English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Turkish, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, Ukrainian, Hebrew, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Malay, Persian, Bengali and Tamil.
Incoming messages are translated where they sit in the chat; your reply is translated before it goes out, so the other person reads it in their language.
Transcribe a voice note first, then translate the text. Kaption does both in the same chat.
Only the text you translate, with a language hint, and without your name, number or contacts. It is not kept after the translation comes back, and it is never used to train AI models.
The Kaption desktop app for Mac (Apple silicon) and Windows 10/11 translates the same way, and on a Mac with macOS 26 translation can run on the computer itself.
Slang, irony and unusual names. When a price, a date or a promise is at stake, check the original text.
On a computer, install Kaption, open the chat in WhatsApp Web and turn on Live Translation: each message appears in your language, and your reply is translated before you send it. On a phone, the WhatsApp app can translate some messages itself, depending on the device and the language; WhatsApp Web has no translate option of its own.
Yes, to start: every account gets 60 days of Business, translation included, with no card. After that, Free continues with limits on voice notes; Lifetime local AI translates on your computer without limits for one payment, and Pro and Business make cloud translation unlimited.
