## How do I turn a WhatsApp voice note into text?

- **On Android or iPhone:** turn on Settings > Chats > Voice message transcripts and pick the transcript language, then press and hold a voice note and tap Transcribe. WhatsApp makes these transcripts on the phone ([WhatsApp blog](https://blog.whatsapp.com/introducing-voice-message-transcripts)). The languages offered depend on the phone.
- **Phone, language not offered:** Kaption Transcriber for iPhone and Android (part of Kaption Pro, US$11.99 a month or US$7.99 a month billed yearly), or open the chat in WhatsApp Web with the free Kaption extension.
